In addition, the department offers preparation for Bachelor’s degree in Information Technologies and Computer Engineering (552800).
There are several specialities for postgraduates: 05.13.13 “Computing Machinery, Complexes, Systems and Networks” and 05.13.18 “Mathematical Modeling, Numerical Methods and Program Systems”.
The department cooperates with well-known companies – distributors of computer and network equipment, software, that is why, there is an important laboratory base, one of the best among other universities in St. Petersburg. It includes:
- Two computer classes, equipped with computers with Intel Core2 processors;
- Laboratory with microprocessor technologies with controllers of IV generation;
- Laboratory of network computer technologies on hardware-software basis of companies CISCO, SIEMENS, IBM;
- Laboratory of program-technical facilities ACS, equipped with Intel Core2 computers and industrial controllers of the GE Fanuc Versa Max type.
During the whole education period students of this department study license softwares Visual C++. NET, programming on C++, C#, Java languages, they work with data manager Oracle 10g and programming aids Internet-application on its base, including PL/SQL, Java, PHP and other languages. Using programs of Adobe company, students master methods of professional design and Web-sites development.
Students study artificial intelligence systems, computer system modeling, modern information technologies, multimedia technologies, microprocessor systems of latest generations, programming methods on machine-specific languages.
Students of the department undergo practical training at branches of railway informatization enterprises, Russian branches of world-known companies and quite often go for training abroad.
